help with Noisy 60 GB 7200 RPM

#1 Post by keku » Sat Aug 06, 2005 1:07 pm

My thinkpad has 60 GB 7200 RPM drive and it's very noisy ... make noises like trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr while rotating and then .... 'tung" clicking noise in between.

is it just me or all new T43 with 7200 RPM drives makes this noise. I got this laptop on july 11th.

Is there a solution or fix pack.

The 7K60 has 2 noise levels and you can change it using e.g. CHC or Feature Tool although it rather sounds like you'd better run some diagnostic tool...

how old is that drive ? Older drives become to be noisy. Mainly IBM (Hitachi).
Let's go'n'restart :-)
