Battery Replacement Options for T41/T42 ?

I have a T41 with a dying 6 cell battery (40% capacity) and a newish T42 with a 9 cell battery.

I would like a new 9 cell battery but I was reading that there are multiple versions of the 6 cell and 9 cell batteries.

What should I get (model numbers etc) ? Where is the cheapest place to get them ?

Also what options are there for the drive bay batteries ?

The battery started to really die 1 month after warranty expired.

The cheapest places heavily depends on your location - e.g. Newegg.com is a nice store with a lot of stuff but will not ship to Europe.
There is e.g. plenty of generic batteries on allegro.pl (Polish equivalent of Ebay) but these shops usually won't ship outside Poland, and so on.
Remember that the 9-cell batery sticks out of the back of the laptop -some people really hate this.

I do not know what options you have in Australia.
Anyway, if your battery died so quickly on you, it may be worth trying to call the support and make some fuss

eBay is full of both generics and IBM branded for $45-$75. (Watch those shipping costs on eBay) Online stores usually drop 4400 mAh IBM brand for about $70 and generics even cheaper. Most online stores ship worldwide.

For the price difference, the the 4400 mAh was fine for me. The 4800mAh will deliver about 12% more operating time, although at price premium. If you want to search for the 4800 mAh, the part number is 92P1091.
