T43 battery remains at 99%...
Despite using an a/c adaptor...my 6 cell battery is still stuck at 99%...anyone facing the same problem?
Is it a new battery? Did you check the power settings? (power manager, battery maintenance)
Theres some different settings there, fully charge, optimize, and custom
(I actually have mine set to start charging below 92% and stop at 95%)
my guess is, if its an older battery, and its always stuck at 99% it may have just deterioated, and you might need to do a battery gauge reset.

This is due to the charge threshhold. By default the battery won't start charging until you hit 96% so if you are unplugged for just a few seconds and drop to 99% or the laptop was sleeping even while plugged in it can drop down to 99% and won't start charging again until it hits 96% again.

Not so always. On my T42P if it was at 80% and I plugged it in it would charge up to 98 or 99% and the charge circuit would turn off.kaplanfx wrote:This is due to the charge threshhold. goto power manager and select Battery information tab
click on Battery Maintenance Button
check Charge thresholds settings.
If "Always fully Charge" is not selected select it
If this option is selected and you are having this problem .. check on perform reset button.
Use "Optimize for battery lifespan" it's better if you use mainly AC power.

I have came across a couple of T42s with a problem like this. Not 99% full charge rate. In these few cases, the laptop would charge and stop charging @ around 77-80%. It is weird. Did a few test with other batteries and it is the same symptom. Change the main board of the laptop and things goes back to normal again. I've seen a couple of repaired T42 boards (which I suspect was having this issue) and it's always a chip somewhere below the F4 key and next to the battery that was replaced. I believe that chip controls the power management of the laptop and in some cases it behaves weirdly. A deep cycle or re-calibration of the battery doesn't solve the problem. Tried it many times.
