Is there yet a consensus on which is the best 100gb drive?
Is there a noticable (rather than testable) difference in performance between the 5400s and 7200s?
100gb
Im no expert, but this is what i found of the last few days. i swapped my 60gb/7k with a hitachi 100k/5k. all seemed to work well at first, just got the Error message on boot, but then yesterday things seem to go strange, some of my drivers werent working. this may have ben cos i had rolled back to BIOS then updated it again. At the end of the day i decided to put the 60gb/5k back in the primary slot and use the 100gb in the ultrabay.
i did notice a speed difference. the most noticable, being when i log in, swipe finger, the time taken for the apps to all load, Norton, bluetooth, networks until the HDD stops thinking, was much faster. i think about 5 secs faster. when i click to open my Outlook for example, it opens faster, just a second or two. so yes, i think it is faster, and noticable.
See the threads in Seagate 100GB sticky topic i put about my probs and what IBM said yesterday:
