T42 2378 FVU Bluetooth Questions

Greetings,

I have few questions as I wanted to add bluetooth to my T42.

- I remember from I've read somewhere on other threads hat 2378 FVU have bluetooth antenna built-in. Where can I go confirm that? I just got off the phone with IBM tech support, the rep said 2378 FVU doesn't have bluetooth built-in bluetooth antenna.

- The part number for the clear plate is 26R8409 $13.50US
- The part number for BMDC 2 is 27R1880 (used to be 91P7319) $87.50US

Can anyone confirm?

Either your rep doesn't know what he's talking about or there are variances in the 2378FVU model. My FVU certainly does have the bluetooth antenna. If you take off your keyboard, you can see the standard modem card in the upper left. After taking it out, you can see a white cable tucked behind a flap. This cable is the antenna.

yeah, I had that same question. even when ordering my laptop the rep told me that the FVU doesn't have any bluetooth anything built in. I've been told by people on the forums that it is built in. I haven't had the time to take apart the system to confirm this. I looked in the tabook thing and I couldn't figure it out. anyways, if someone could confirm this for sure that would be awsome. or if there is a quicker way to figure this all out let me know. that would be the best.

I checked that the clear plate 26R8409 is for T43. Are you sure if it can fit into a T42?

The "clear plate" part number is a bag of plates, a dozen or so -- every model, with/without bluetooth etc.

Also the little mini-plates for the top side with power/bt/sleep.

Is Adding bluetooth to a T-series without an antenna an easy feat? I've done virtually everything...and I have no clue how to change the clear plate. Is it relatively easy?
