home wifi network grief

#1 Post by highgrovemanor » Thu Aug 11, 2005 7:13 pm

So here I sit typing on my old klunky Toshiba, as my 2 day old T43 doesn't want to stay on my wifi network for more than a 1/2 second. I don't use dhcp on my AP, as I want it centrally located in the house. So I have:

cable modem ->
linksys router w/ dhcp enabled 192.168.1.1 ->
linksys switch ->
linksys wrt54g w/ dhcp disabled 192.168.1.2

this config has worked on my old toshiba (w/ linksys G card), free after rebate SMC b card for my tivo, various PDAs using B, and my wife's new D610 from work. I flashed both the router & AP last night. oh yea, I upgraded the driver to 9.0.2.25.

Why the heck can't my stupid intel 2200bg stay connected? it appears to be dhcp related..as strength is strong, but it infinitely cycles between connected and not.

And I have ZERO problems when wired into the access point.

Anyone have any suggestions before I unplug everything & only use the AP? I have seen the threads of the intel not liking the linksys 54, but i don't like that answer as both my sister's and dad's household have the same thing. Please tell me its something obvious with the software setup, though I doubt that as I've gone all the way to disabling WEP...

help!
