T42P overheating?
T42P overheating?
Hi, I received my Thinkpad back from EZServ and now it is behaving weird. Anytime I run an application that taxes the system, the system will slow down and speed back up. (This causes temporary jerkiness in 3d games). I've confirmed that the CPU is throttling down due to the heat using mobilemeter. Is there something I should check before I send it back to them?

A properly operating Pentium M will throttle around the high 80's C. My guess is that the heatsink mechanism isn't properly reattached to the CPU, causing heat to build up.
I don't know what there is anything you can check yourself, unless you are willing to disassemble the HS/Fan unit to make sure it is properly installed. Probably best to send it back to the depot unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing.
