anyone uses their t43p to run matlab simulations???
anyone uses their t43p to run matlab simulations???
i've bought a t43p recently and am wondering if it's harmful to run intensive simulations on it all day long?
It doesn't harm a CPU to run non-stop (I have run a desktop CPU at 100 percent for days on end building rainbow tables). What you want to be concerned about is heat, and you want to check (with mobilemeter) what the steady state temperature of the CPU and hard drive are at 100 percent CPU. If they are within acceptable limits, then you won't have issues. ... JD Hurst
CHC (Centrion Hardware Control) can also tell you cpu and HD temps and additionally has a bunch of great other features.

Don't worry, if it fails in this way it will be during the warranty periodsimonyiu wrote:i've bought a t43p recently and am wondering if it's harmful to run intensive simulations on it all day long?
Let's go'n'restart

Since matlab is one of the standard tools for mathematical stuff, I would be interested in benchmarking T4x laptops. I have access to T42s with 1.25GB RAM (1.6G and 1.8G) and I am sure folks have much better Ts out here in the forum
The important question is what benchmark should we use? I use simple stuff like matric multiply, inverse and SVD to test linear algerbra stuff for example.

ddutta:
matrix operations of the kind that you mentioned are part of
the standard Linpack benchmark used to rank Top500 supercomputers
in the world.
one can benchmark the eigensolver with different matrix sizes (100, 500,
1000, 5000) and get the speed in MegaFlops (millions of floating point
operations per second). matlab used to have a flops command, but
since matlb6, when they started using the standard Lapack (next
generation linpack) library, they removed it. If you are willing to do the
benchmark and get the timings in seconds, I will look into how to get the
MFlops from that number. I have a 2GHz T43p and I can also run your
matlab code. let me know if you are interested.
