Help ordering a CTO system

#1 Post by mech » Tue Aug 16, 2005 12:16 am

Hi Guys,

Im trying to order a T43p as a barebone CTO model, I called up and the first rep said no problem and never called back, the second rep I talked to said they could not sell me an unconfigured CTO system. There is a system the 2687EJU which is 15"/Fingerprint model avaiable on the site for $1399, I'm looking for the part number for the 14.1" CTO models with and withouth the Fingerprint reader so I can try to order it online instead. I looked in the pdf file for model numebrs but I couldnt find it....

Thanks,
Vinay

in a CTO you must order an OS, HDD, memory, optical drive and so forth..
they won't willingly sell a barebones thinkpad..

Vinay,
I received my 2687E4U last week, which is just 2687EJU sans the
fingerprint reader. Its configuration is listed below in my signature.

The rep told me that it cannot be sold barebone. Besides,
I wanted it configured anyway with IBM parts as their quality
is great (except may be the slower multiburner, which
suffices for my needs).
I only got 256 MB memory with the system and added a 1GB
Crucial memory stick from mwave.com myself for $115 +TX+S/H.
In a year or so, when the need will arise, I will
replace the 256MB stick with another 1GB stick.
According to some in this forum (including me) this seems to
be a good option to get a great price. All notebook sellers
charge you deep for large memory configurations.
