Color settings
Color settings
Anyone have any hints on how best to improve the color accuracy of a T43 LCD (14.1", X300 card) and get custom color profiles to work and override the ATI settings?
The color profiles I set as default (Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Color Management) seem to be overridden by the ATI color settings. In fact even setting the ATI stuff to "default", I cannot get profiles to load, or at least I see no discernable difference when I switch between what should be starkly different icm profiles, whci implies they are not being read properly.
Is there any way to switch off the ATI color control? Or am I missing something obvious here? Thanks.

Perhaps a better way to explain my dilemma is that I cannot figure out the difference between the ATI color settings and the default windows color settings.
Which overrides which, and can this be changed? Because at the moment my Windows color settings seem to be redundant or not working and are overridden by the ATI ones.

Hi, I tested T43 2668-75U (14.1" SXGA) for several days and also had trouble getting the colors right.
As you mention, the ATI adjustment overrides the Windows/Adobe color profiler, so ATI adjustment was the only choice for me. However, the over-emphasized blue on this LCD was uncontrollable for me and I never got the balance to where I wanted to be. I had it side by side with my desktop CRT and T42p with FlexView, and I just couldn't correct it.
I ended up returning the T43. I might consider the T43/p with FlexView again.

"color aware" software (Photoshop) *will* use the custom profiles to tweak the display while within Photoshop... but that's it.
Setting a custom ICC or ICM file in Windows does not affect what you see on the desktop.
Unfortunately, Mac's still have some advantages when it comes to graphics works.
Ah yes, thanks. My bad writing. What I meant was that the Adobe Gamma utility for monitor calibration (which does effect the regular desktop) didn't sufficiently correct the colors for me. (or just my poor skills...)Windows does not use custom ICC profiles on the desktop, unlike the Mac.
