Big big battery ?

#1 Post by nrj45 » Fri Aug 19, 2005 4:06 am

I wonder if there is another way for extending the autonomy of the T series (except the little battery you put instead of your optical drive). Is it possible to have a battery looking like a docking station but with no other functionnality ? It would be like a pad of 1cm thick with the same capacity as the 9 cell battery (or more ?).

By the way if such a solution should exist what about including into such a battery :
- a usb hub (to have 4 usb ports instead of 2)
- a firewire port
- a card reader

I think it's possible to realize through the docking station port but i didn't find such a solution. If my t43p would be able to work 10 hours long.....

800MHz-0.7Vcore, LCD min -> 13Watts

There are lots of external battery packs out there, like this one: http://www.laptoptravel.com/Product.aspx?ID=1883

I own both 6 and 9 cell batteries. I mainly use the 6 cell because it looks sleaker.

Dang, 90Whr ain't too shabby, thats a little less than twice what my T42's batt had on its first charge at full capacity. With that and my 6 cell and my ultrabay it'd be around 140Whr which I estimate would last nearly 12 HOURS!!!

Thinnest of 14.1" T4x is one of the main reason I went for thinkpad. If I have to trade thinnest for battery, I might have gotten a panasonic Y instead.

I would hope that they make a 11 cell battery with the sticking out part as wide as the laptop.

By adding such a battery like a docking station, I meant it's removable so you can choose between weight and autonomy.

It would have to be 12-cell -- they come in multiples of 3 to make the 10.8 volts from LiIon cells.
