A couple of questions about my new T43p

#1 Post by tUNA COWboy » Fri Aug 19, 2005 10:50 am

My first post here!

I have a couple of questions for the board. I just got a T43p (2668-h5u)

First, does any one know the difference between the T4x batteries?
I currently have the 9 cell and I don't like the extra baggage it carries along with it. I'd rather it fit my case than give me an extra couple of hours of uptime.

I looked on IBM's website and I see 2 batteries for my Thinkpad

1. Lithium Ion battery
2. 6 cell Lithium Ion battery

My question is will the 6 cell lithium battery fit flush with the back of my thinkpad?

Second question

I have been reading these boards and noticed the fan issues T43 owners are having. My previous laptop was an Alienware Area-51m, and that thing roared. So for me the T43 noise is barely noticeable. But to the point, I noticed that my load temps get quite high. By high I mean in the low 90's Does anyone else's T43 reach these temps? If not should I call IBM and ask for a replacement? And how long does that process take?

I ordered my laptop on a Monday and it came that Friday

All those things set aside I love my new Thinkpad and would by another in a heartbeat.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I can help I've t43p (2687 EJU)

1. Yes 6 cell battery fits within body of laptop, it won't be sticking out of laptop as 9cell battery.

you might wana go for something called Hi Capacity 6cell Li Ion.

Li Ion and 6cell LiION are same it's just older model list them as Li ION and new model they list as 6 cell Li ION.

08K8214 THINKPAD T40 SERIES LION BATTERY is Old battery
Nearing End-of-Life, it is designed for older T4x laptops ... T41 or 42

92P1101 THINKPAD T40/R50 SERIES 6 CELL LI-ION BATTERY is new model designed for T43, it last longer than above model.

low 90s is very high, no doubt T43 are having heating issues but mine never reached 80 so you might wana call IBM and get replacement.

I sometimes get mid 90's with full performance. Think it's quite normal if performing demanding stuff (games and such...).

One hot summer day I had even the T43p shut itself ungracefully down during zipping of some huge files -- I think its temperature was around 96-97 C...

Wow thanks for the quick replies, I think I will call them next week about my temperature concerns.

About my current battery, Is the FS/FT forum on these boards a good place to go, or am I better off on the bigger boards (i.e. Anandtech, notebookforums) ?

btw this is the best freakin keyboard I have ever used on a laptop.
