Fn+F5 on a T23 to turn wireless radio off and on

#1 Post by acz » Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:01 am

I am fixing up a used T23 laptop. It has the IBM High Rate Wireless LAN miniPCI Combo Card, and all the latest drivers including IBM Access connections version 3.71.
I would like to use the Fn+F5 key combination to turn the wireless radio off and on, just as I do on my T41p. However, in IBM Access Connections, under Options, Global Settings, that choice is grayed out. Can anyone suggest how to turn it on? Thank you

T20 (2647-44U, needs a win98 install disk to rebuild vmm32.vxd)
T23 (2647-HNU, pulsing fan, won't boot)
T41p (2373-GEU, works perfectly)
T61 (7658-CTO, works perfectly)

As I am not really familiar with the T23, I can't say if this feature is available for it or not. However I do know that you have to use the wireless card driver that comes from IBM for it to work. Use the latest driver that is available from IBM/Lenovo, and see if that fixes your problem.

i like to know the answer to this question too....i used to have Fn-F5 on my T42 to turn on and off the wireless

My T23 does not seem to have this feature....it's very frustrating to try to connect again when the wireless is off and no way to turn it back on.

Anyone confirm?

i just look at the HMM for T23 under Fn combinations and Fn-F5 is reserved....so it looks like us T23 users are doomed.....

unless anyone got this to work on a T23 can jump in and rebutt

I don't believe it works on any T-series prior to the T40.

Thanks to all who commented. Later models clearly have the Fn+f5 feature, the T2x did not.
