Green Bars on LCD when using volume button missing (T42)

I am (almost) embarrassed to ask this question but I used to have green bars on the lcd when I used the volume buttons and the screen brightness (Function+end, Function+Home) keys, now they are gone. The volume and brightness still work but there is no green bars. Any help appreciated.

Maybe it's something about the On Screen Display

You can find it in Display Property/Settings/Advanced/On Screen Display, if you have the right driver installed.

Go to Thinkpad Configuration ( Start>Programs>Access IBM>Thinkpad Configuration ) and choose On Screen Display from the Display menu on top. It's there.
