Ultrabay Slim Li-ion battery 08K8190
Ultrabay Slim Li-ion battery 08K8190
Anyone here have any experience with this thing? My T42p is IN transit with a 6-cell battery. I didn't want anything protruding from the back, that's why I opted for the 6-cell vs. the 9-cell. Since I have no use for an optical drive, I was thinking about putting the Ultrabay Slim li-ion in the bay as I heard it gives up to 2 hours additional system life. Can anyone attest to it's worth? I think IBM sells it for 145.00 or something, but it can be had on froogle for cheaper.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
BTW - can anyone tell us what the actual Watt-hour rating of this battery is. This is the real capacity (things like 6-cell/9-cell are ultimately meaningless).
BYW - it seems that the 6-cell is about 50WH and the 9-cell is 70-71WH - not quite 50% better. The old (T2X) ultrabay batteries were 39WH.
I find that the IBM batteries settle out at 5-10% under rated capacity within the first month or so then stay there for quite a while.
Other experiences?

The 6-cell is rated at approximately 48 Watt/hrs and the 9-cell is rated at 71 Watt/hrs.
You can view the design capacity of your battery by clicking once on the battery maximizer gauge. A menu pops up. Choose "Battery Information" and go to the information tab.
