After creating the bootable xp cd

i guess i need to post a new topic in order to attract someone.

i have created the bootable xp cd but:

1. do i need to call microsoft to activate my xp each time i do a fresh xp installation?

2. if i use those steps and avoid the xp activation, will i still be able update xp thought internet?

IBM ThinkPads do not require Activation. They now do require Validation to do updates and they will validate properly.

If you have your own XP install and it requires Activation, then you will have to do it. And so far as I know, you will have to Activate at each fresh install.

what does it actually mean by activation?

when i tried to install, i filled in the product at the back of my laptop, seems it can recognize and let me press "next".

is it after installation, it will ask me again to activate the window?
