problem for booting on T21

sorry for my question and for my english , but have a problem to my T21 , im buy a new HD and after install on the laptop , going for instal win xp but the dvd not booting from cd , and have anoder problem not have a recovery cd becouse buy used on ebay the laptop have a idea to existis the alternative mode for instal the new operative system, or the mode for booting from cd?
