Heat problem?

#1 Post by user101 » Wed Aug 24, 2005 9:30 am

When putting my cpu at full load the temperature reaches 81 C in CHC and idle is anywhere from 55-60. Are the temp readings usually accurate or is something wrong. I am using a T43 2686DGU

I can't say for sure because I have a T41 but from all the reading I've done on this forum this seems about right.

Do you undervolt your cpu ?
My t43p (see sig.) idles at 43°C - 44°C and stays at 62°C under load (21°C room)

no I don't undervolt my cpu. Going above 80 C is normal. Isn't that close to the shutdown threshold? EDIT: The CPU is at 88 C now.

I've read that a user with a T43 went up to 92C at 100% load and dropped down to 65C at 100% load after undervolting.
I didn't write this, just read it.

My T41 hasn't even seen 60C, these temps seem extremely high to me but the units work ok.

What you should do at first, is check your CPU load, open the taskmanager (ctrl-shift-escape), sort them by CPU load, or just post a screenshot.

Sounds like a program stuck in loop, my machine idles around 37-40, undervolted.

I know my cpu is at full load (I'm encoding a dvd) I'm just concerned about the load temps.

You mentioned idling at 55 degrees, that's way hotter than it should be.

Under load it's nothing to get to 80 degrees, after undervolting it'll stay at 60 or so under load.

I don't know if this is relevant, but my X40 idles at 37 -39 degrees celcius and under load, at max. 44 - 45 degrees celcius. (I undervolted my 6x multiplier to .796V...)

User101, Did you just get your DGU? I just got mine about 31/2 weeks ago and just started noticing this week that mine is getting very hot as well. I wonder if there are issues with the last production run of the DGU's just sent out. Hmmm. Please let me know what you decide with yours. I may send mine back since it has not been 30 days yet. In addition I have a stuck red pixel.

I've got a DGU and my temp right now is 49c. I'm not too sure on how to undervolt my CPU and after reading the Beginners Guide on the CHC website, I only got more confused as to what settings I should apply. Any help on this topic would be much appreciated.
