T42, ATI 9600 color settings

#1 Post by STS06 » Thu Aug 25, 2005 1:23 am

Hi, I was wondering whether or not the settings should be set to 16 bit or 32 bit for best performance and the cost associated with switching from 16 bit to 32bit. I just realized that the factory setting (or the settings the computer was configured to when I got it) was 16 bit. Switching ot 32 bit, I didn't see an big difference. I have a SXGA 1400x1050 15" screen by the way. Thanks for the help.

Technically yes, use 16-bit for best performance, but 32-bit will give noticably better looking icons, and colors, at very little cost of performance (for normal applications anyway - gaming is probably a different story).

I use 32-bit for best appearance.
