Thinkpad T43 / T41 Quality Control? w/ Pics
Hi,
We recently purchased several Thinkpads. Some of Thinkpads have several "bubble" like shape on the bottom stickers. When we rub on it, we can feel there is something underneath. Other Thinkpads's bottom sitckers are flat and fine. All Thinkpads that have the bubble are made in China; others were either made in Malaysia, Mexico or Phillpine.
Does anyone has the same bubble at the same location? If there is, what's underneath?
In addition, the gap between plastic are kind of big for some Thinkpads but the machine works fine. Except when we put our hand on the palm rest, you can hear some sound. Here includes pictures taken out of our 46 Thinkpads that we've purchased. We may be purchasing more laptops next year but we hope Lenovo will do a good job at keeping Thinkpads' quality brand name.
Pictures 1: (New T43 Purchased that has the bubble shapes. This one shows 1 bubble shapes that's obvious but others have more than 1)

RE: Thinkpad T Sereis Bottom Label Sticker Bubble?
Thanks for the quick reply.
Is your bubble appearing on the same location as the pictures?
some of the T43 laptops have more than 1 bubble. It seems like there is a small "dot" object or small rock under the sticker.
If you can post your pictures on, it would be great!
Thanks

I have the bubble too.
But I don't think that there is something underneath.
The location where the bubble appears is very hot when the laptop is used.
If some air is underneath,it will be going hotter and hotter. The volume of the hot air will grow up.Then the bubble appears.

Hi,
Thank you for your replies!
Basically the bubble has not affected laptops' operations. Just wondering why out of our 45 laptops, some of T43 have it but some do not and why the ones that have it are all made in China. These T43 are all brand new. We discovered this when we tried to put the company label and station sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
The hot air theory seems to be a good explaination for the bubble but when we touch the bubble, we also discovered something "hard" underneath. At first, we thought this maybe a screw but other T43s do not have it.
P.S. - To Admin: Sorry, I wasn't aware about not using the `Img` tag. I will use link next time. =)

Since it seems to be important to know the answer, why not take a razor and cut a circle out of the sticker, revealing what's under the bubble?
Alternatively, prick it with a pin and see if it "deflates", indicating it was just air.
I've heard of making mountains from mole-hills before, but this is a new one.

Your comment is gratuitous. Explain yourself (and learn to spell).Kyocera wrote:If you have access to an X-ray machine perhaps you could take a few shots of the "bubble" I would wait before peircing the "bubble with a razor as it may release a chineese death virus. You may have stumbled into a new form of biological warfare.
