Lenovo uses three different suppliers for its keyboards: Chicony (China), Alps (China), and NMB (Thailand). I've tried all three and like the NMB keyboard the best, though this is a personal preference so I'm not saying that one is better than another (though I'd say majority of users seem to like NMB keyboard).
if you're happy with your keyboard, I woulnd't worry about it.
if you're curious to know what kind of keyboard your machine has, you can do a parts lookup here:

Thanks Hoya .... I am happy with mine now, just curious to know what you all talking about.hoya wrote:Lenovo uses three different suppliers for its keyboards: Chicony (China), Alps (China), and NMB (Thailand). If that's the case then you'll learn more by reading the existing threads devoted to this subject, than you will by starting a new one. Here's one you'll find among the current topics in the forum:ludu35 wrote:I am happy with mine now, just curious to know what you all talking about.
T42 Thai, China NMB & Alps Keyboard Impressons (long)

I checked my parts list from that link that many people have posted.
Anyways when checking, I looked at the FRU model and compared it to this link to determine where my keyboard was made:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-46503
My Keboard FRU is : 39T0704
Where as my KEYBOARD BEZEL ASSEMBLY FRU is : 91P8685
Neither of these numbers are on the site that lists the origin of your keyboard. Am I looking at the wrong numbers or something, or maybe I just missed it (which is kind of scarey!). Anyways can anyone tell me where my keyboard is from? My model is a 2373N3U.
The keyboard is simply fantastic. Perfect feel and touch...just gotta get used to the location of the keys...but even then, its pretty easy to do so with this keyboard. Maybe it's b/c I haven't had a laptop before, but I'm extrememly happy with this Keyboard..and this computer in general! If I knew where the keyboard was made, maybe it'd help some people looking for replacements or evaluations as to if their problems are unique or not.
Good day!

T42 (2373N3U): 1.8 Ghz, 1.5 GB DDR, ATI Radeon 9600, 60 GB 7200 rpm HD, 15" SXGA (1400x1050) screen, CD-RW/DVD-ROM (combo), Bluetooth, Fingerprint Reader.
STS06 - you have to submit your serial number in order to perform a parts lookup on your particular system. Two people can have the machine type and model number yet have different keyboards, different hard drives, and different LCD's.
submit your machine type and serial number here to determine the keyboard that shipped with your system:

I did that..there's no other way to get the FRUs of all your parts. It won't say where the keyboard was produced at the link you gave me...only the FRU and manufacturing ID. So what do I cross reference that with to obtain the manufacturing location? I used the link in my last post but it didnt contain my FRU number (which is also posted on that post).
Again, my FRU for the keyboard is: 39T074
and the rest of my data is listed two posts above this one (my last post). Thanks for any help.

STS06, your keyboard is an Alps.
