Puff of air from fan

#1 Post by admsteiner » Mon Jun 28, 2004 3:45 pm

Hey,

Maybe it's just my disbelief of my thinkpad being so quiet. However, once in a while I hear the fan on the left whirl up, I feel some hot air come out the vent and then it shuts down again.

I've left my TP on 24hrs a day most days, havent had any problems. I figure it just runs cool, but once in a while turns on for a second or two (the fan). Even when it's on, it's still pretty quiet.

Is this normal activity?

Thanks,
Adam

I get that same sudden brief "whoosh" when my thinkpad starts up, and it does it every once in a while (maybe about once an hour, don't really notice)...seems normal to me.

My Pentium 4-M Toshiba does that every 5 minutes. The fan stays on if I'm doing something CPU intensive.
