I have a T21 that I'd like to restore using a restore CD. However, I was not able to find a T21 restore CD for Windows 2000. I did however find on ebay a T20 restore CD which I figured would work, so I got that and used it.
What is strange is that it DID restore Windows 2000 and the initial software (like Access Thinkpad, etc.) onto the machine. However, some of the hardware did not seem to get drivers installed. For example, the scroll button works fine. But the volume keys on the keyboard do not work. Also, when I restored the T20, I remember the Thinkpad Configuration software was installed. But it didn't get installed on this machine! Are these common problems when restoring like this?
I'm sure I can work around it by downloading the drivers and software, but I'm curious why everything else seems to have installed correctly except for a few pieces.
T21 restore with T20 CD possible?
