IBM T23 freezes randomly. Now it will not post.

I just got my T23 in the mail today and it was literally covered in dog/cat hair. It was sold as a laptop that stopped working. In any case I cleaned out the hair and now it does work. Everything seems fine, except it freezes randomly. It does get into windows and works ok for a while, but then freezes. I've reseated everything I can think of.

Sometimes it also boots with a white horizontal bar at the top. Most of the time now it just doesn't boot. The fan spins up and down and up and down and that's about it. Thanks for any help!

I had a T23 that would freeze whenever I just move or tilt it a little bit. I've replaced the motherboard and it works fine again.

yea that sounds about right. Where did you get your motherboard btw?

If you can't find it on Ebay, it might be worth a try to ask IBM..they may have a few left...

Be careful though, there are at least two motherboards for the T23. Make sure you get the right one. Check your model number against the parts listed in the hardware maintenance manual.
