need t42 BIOS information

#1 Post by cainlevy » Sat Sep 03, 2005 2:56 pm

Hey all,

So I recently bid and won on a T42 on eBay. I got a good deal, but not a suspiciously good deal. It was advertised as having a SXGA+ screen powerd by ATI Radeon 9600.

Then I got the model/type and serial number, and checked IBM's site: the 2373-4WU comes with a regular ol' XGA screen and a ATI Radeon 7500. I checked the serial number, and it verified the model as being 2373-4WU.

Now, this guy says he just took all the information from the BIOS. His transaction history doesn't look fraudulent, and he hasn't given any of the telltale signs of a laptop scammer.

But how is it possible to have a 2373-4WU with a SXGA+ lcd and a Radeon 9600? How can I figure out what's going on with the contradictory model/type?

Are these specifications really even available in the BIOS? Could someone check and see what it looks like for me? I'm about to call this guy, and I'd like to have some way to know whether he's lieing to me.

I don't remember video specs being listed in the BIOS, but you can always have him send you a picture of machine, or if new, the box it comes in...

I'll take a closer look through the bios in a bit, but until then, crossing my fingers for you. Buying big-ticket items on ebay always scares me!

No laptop for me.

Still curious how the BIOS information could contradict the model/type with regards to the video card/display.

It's most likely that's he's making it up.
