External widescreen monitor (Dell 2005FPW 20")

#1 Post by stalin » Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:45 pm

Hey there,

I'm about to buy an external widescreen monitor for my T43p, most probably the Dell 2005FPW 20" (external keyboard and mouse come as well, so the TP is gonna be a tower ;) as a notebook I plan to use it when I'm e.g. on the road). So, I would like to ask if someone has some expirience to share in this area. I mean will I have problems using this monitor at 1600x1050, would it be possible to use both screens simultaneously, any problems having different resolutions etc. As far as I see it - it should work like a charm, but I'd better ask, just to be on the safe side ;)
Thnx in advance.

This will be no problem. I have my T series in a port replicator and am sending the DVI output to an external flat panel. My external Display is 1280x1024 and my TP display is 1600x1200. Sinc eI am extending my desktop to the external flat panel, I have a desktop of 2880 in width. It is the only way to work. I still use my TP keyboard and TrackPoint just because I actually prefer them to a full size keyboard and mouse - side effect of 7 years as a road warrior. Anyway, it should work great. I have also read a thread on this forum where someone had connected the Dell 24 inch UltraSharp 2405FPW Widescreen Digital Flat Panel to their TP T4x. I bet that is fun. Anyway...in short...this will be no problem. I have done it on my T40 and my T42P.
