Power Surge on USB Hub Message

#1 Post by rgrossha » Thu Sep 08, 2005 3:11 pm

Hi

I've a 4 month old T43p. Just yesterday, began getting pop up error messages that there has been a Power Surge on the USB Hub. The most alarming thing is that there are no USB devices connected to my machine.

I get them when on AC power and when working off of battery. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason I've been able to figure out yet.

I've begun making backups very often, as I suspect something is frying. Any suggestions, history with this that I've missed?

Thanks for the help.

Rob

I have had the same message on my T42 for a while now. So far nothing else has happened. I finally got tired of the messages popping up so I disabled the warning messages for the USB port.

Just go the device manager and right click on the USB controller and select properties. Then click on the advanced tab and you will see the checkbox to stop the errors on the bottom left. So far I have had no other issues with my unit and the USB ports work fine.

Thanks. Now, to make sure I have frequent backups in case my spiffy, Bll-provided Thinkpad, really does fry.
