Need to unlock T40p DVD Region (Matshita UJDA 745 DVD/CDRW)

#1 Post by TaffyBoy » Fri Sep 09, 2005 10:22 am

Hi,
This is my first post on this forum and I was wondering if someone out there might help me find a way of unlocking the region code of my CD?DVD combo drive.
I have recently updated the firmware.
OS is Win XP Pro and I have been using the installed Intervideo Win DVD to view DVDs.
I bought the Thinkpad when I was in the US and it has been great, I did a lot of research before the purchase and it has paid off - this is a great laptop.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

or just use the VLC player (free, videolan.org). Plays everthing.

DVD Region Unlocking on UJDA745

#4 Post by TaffyBoy » Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:17 am

Thanks for the replies.
The region choice window seems part of Windows XP and so I don't understand how flashing the drive will change this. I have updated the firmware of the drive using a USB floppy created from the software from the Lenovo site.
Also, using a different player probably won't help as windows is still running and the window appears with any media player.

Is there some kind of software patch or some other method that would allow the drive to play any region DVD?

Thanks again.

TB

Use DVD43. It sits in your system tray and make the DVD drive and the video player thinks that the disc is region free.

AGAIN: there is no need for patches, purchasing additional software like DVDIdle or firmware hacks. Just use VLC. It is free. What else can i say? Free like free beer. Isn't this good enough? And it really plays everything, every DVD region, every file format. If you don't believe it: just try it. As you will see no Windows region window will pop up.

Actually, its free as in free speech (GPL) :-)

Of course, freedom is always restricted by local laws. In countries like North Korea and the USA the possession and/or use of a CSS decryptor is probably illegal.
