Trying to connect T42p w/ Atheros 11a/b/g to Linksys WRT54G

#1 Post by MookieJim » Fri Sep 09, 2005 1:22 pm

Hi Folks,

I have a new T42p running Windows XP Pro. It came with the Atheros 11a/b/g network adapter installed. I cannot get it to connect to my Linksys WRT54G. I can connect when using a Wireless-G Notebook adpater ( Linksys WPC54G). So far I've tried changing some of the advanced settings for the Atheros but haven't found a winning combination yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi,

I use the same combo without any problems. However, one issue I found was that if you have the SSID broadcast turned off, it should be turned back on for the first time connection. After that, you can turn off the SSID broadcast again.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ojisan. I tried your suggestion, but it didn't change the result. :(

The LinkSys 54 and 55 wireless routers have been problematic for some of my clients. With respect to the WRT54G, make sure that firmware is current. Old firmware causes the problems you note. ... JD Hurst
