2668Q2U Has Arrived - by the Fan Man!
Ok, as many of you know, I have been working with different Thinkpads to solve heat and fan problems.
I have received my 2668-Q2U and will be posting my review and comaprison of the FAN / HEAT issues on the different machines.
In the meantime, if anyone has rock-solid CHC voltage/numbers please post them here.
Great info on its way..

Hi, Rhino, I am waiting for your complete review, since I did not see other T43p models, I can't provide a review based on the comparisions.
From my several days' use, I like this laptop more and more:
1). The screen is so perfect.
2). The speed of the machine is so high.
3). More importantly, I think there is really no fan noise problem, though the fan is on most of the time, it is not loud at all, just as Redskin's description.
4). As far as the heat is concerned, as long as you don't do CPU intensive work, and do some work such as web browsing, word processing, etc, you will not feel the heat issue. But for CPU intensive work, such as math computing, you will feel the heat, which is a general phenomenon for most of the laptops.
Anyway, maybe Rhino can give a fair comparision since he has been working with different thinkpads. And Keku's review is also welcome.

Can you tell the part number for DVD Multi burner .. it should be 73P3312 or 13N6827 ...
In specs it says EIDE 8X max ....
if it's 73p3342 try burning a DVD +R .... if it works ... coz if doesn't then IBM might send you a newer one.
Mine is shipped and UPS confirmed it will be delivared on monday 19th before 10 AM .... I'm just getting restless ... why these guyz always have to ship it on friday ... can't they ship it on thurdays so it arrive on friday?? so i can utilize my weekend in setting up & playing with ... my new "toy"

Tha fan on this machine is PRETTY MUCH the same as the other machine. Maybe a LITTLE quieter, but so little it is almost impossible to tell.
I am working on undervolting now.
Next I will be breaking it down to see if I can build a custom cooling system like my previous thread explains. I have purchased lots of hardware for this and hope to be able to create something that works well.
I wish I just had the fan that has the plate extending to the northbridge chip, as that would make it easier.

*update*
I will open the Tpad as soon as possible to confirm or deny this, but, it sounds as if IBM/LENOVO added another fan into this design. My main fan is completely off right now (CPU@42c) and I can hear a distinct fan sound from the other side of the case!!!
Note: (It is now a couple minutes later) CPU@42c still and the (main) fan has come on and is staying on. This again pretty much confirms that the fan is not solely controlled by the CPU temp.
Other things I notice with this new system:
-Hard drive makes chirps. (100gb 7k)
-Keyboard feels nicer than the last T43(?)
-LCD does not have as dark little lines on the bottom outmost edges.
-Noticably faster in all regards, almost too much faster.
-CD/DVDr combo drive does not like to close easily.
-Case construction seems to be a little better.
All for now. More to come

I got my 2668 Q2U just this morning. Had little time to play with. so far I was able to figure out the fan noise.
In compare to T43p 2687EJU I found fan on T43p 2667Q2U is louder. The older one didn't have any machanical noise it was just wind humming. when I covered the vent I couldn't notice any noise.
While with this new Q2U I can listen fan's noise. so posts about being Q2U quieter are just illusions and half true.
Only big difference I found is fan runs on a lower speed when doing some minor work. but after a while its pretty much same as other T43p models.
Sorry folks if this breaks anybody's heart but truth is Fan in any Auguest model is not any quiter than previous models.
I'll run some tests on it and will let you guyz know about heating issues, too

As far as cooling goes, it does seem like it runs an average of 1-2C less than my previous T43p.
