i see dead pixels...

#1 Post by thedonnybrook » Wed Sep 21, 2005 10:35 pm

so i got this t42p used, but its just under a year old. i did a dead pixel test when i first got it, and only saw one dead pixel. the problem was i didn't have the machine set at max resolution. after testing it again at max resolution, i am spotting them all over th lcd. is it possible that the images i am using for my dead pixel test are the problem when i have my lcd set at 1600x1200 pixels? anyone know how ibm is with their warranty on lcd's?

Try these tests: http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html

PC-Doctor has tests for dead pixels showing basically red, green and blue screens which you can do yourself.

IBM will replace your monitor if it has 11 dead pixels on 1400x1050 resolution and a bit more on your resolution. You can find this on IBM website but I'm not sure exactly where.

that is exactly the test i used. i am wondering if it has something to do with the images. the same pixels don't always come up dead, and when you adjust your viewing agle on both the x and y axis i find more of them. oddly, they aren't tpyically noticeable during regular use. also, the bottom corners of my lcd are darker than the rest of it. if these are dead pixels i have counted well more than 11. would it be worth it to be without a machine for two weeks while ibm takes a look at it?
