swaping out the system drive

I'd like to swap the system drive on my t42 (80gig) and put a 40gig one in it's place and put the 80gig un in the ultra slim bay.
To do this is it just a case of, take system drive out, format it with f disk on my desktop, put my new formatted 40gig seagate in its place, use windows boot disc (taken from UCI_MECH's fresh install xp guide) to install windows on the 40gig, then put the 80gig drive in caddy + ultrabay
heh presto!!!!
would this work?
any input appreciated.
