Availability on T42 2373-H6U (current special)

#1 Post by homer » Sun Sep 25, 2005 11:32 pm

Anyone know the availability for the T42 2373-H6U special on the IBM/Lenovo website? I have already ordered a CTO T42 with similar specs, but it won't ship until mid-October (or so says the order status page). I would like to know if the special has a better turnaround time. If so, I might change my order.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I ordered a 2373-H6U on 9/8. Original ship date was 10/15! However, received shipping e-mail last Friday, and I should be getting a visit from the Big Brown Truck today!

FWIW, parts look-up indicates Hydis LCD but Chicony (non-Thai) keyboard. We'll see how that works out.

Price was $1341 before tax after I downgraded to WinXP Home and the 6cell battery and went w/ the Intel B/G wireless card.

I ordered mine on 9/13. It shipped on 9/21 and is due to arrive in DC today.

like kendalf, mine also has a Hydis panel and a Chicony keyboard so I am very happy (Hydis panel is superior and keyboard is easy to replace).

my config was also $1341 before tax and I ordered a 1 gig Crucial RAM module for $120 from newegg.

I should note that this price is AMAZING! even cheaper than EPP (which is almost always impossible to beat)

bummer...i just called ibm/lenovo and the guy told me i am unable to cancel my order as they're already "processing it". but guess what? my ship date got postponed to 10/31. he reassured me that it will probably ship earlier, but no guarantees.

oh well, my order was the t42-2378 CTO (with epp discount) for just a little bit less then the t42 special. however, my machine has no bluetooth, its "only" 1.7ghz (vs. 1.8 ghz) radeon 7500 ("only" 32mb vram). i am ambivalent for my desire to get the extra features or the free leather attache case. so, in all i think i got a fair/good deal. however, the current special is definitely better then even EPP discount for the feature set. Probably one of the better deals ibm/lenovo has put out to the public.

I would insist on cancelling the T42 you have on order. 32mb of VRAM is insufficient, especially if you plan to run Windows Vista on this machine.

worst case scenario, you can just return that CTO T42 to Lenovo under their 30-day policy, which will cost about $15 in shipping. my $.02

the reason i am happy with 32mb vram is because i am primarily a linux user (except for powerpoint on windows, but open office 2.0 is pretty [censored] good) and i dont play games on my laptop.

however, i might go the route of the 2373-h6u special because i can not wait until october 31. i most definitely need the laptop by october 21.

Is fingerprint reader included with the 2373H6U. I do not see it listed under "included features". Thanks! :?:
