LG / ID Tech FlexView comparison (Hi Res pictures)

#1 Post by hoya » Tue Sep 27, 2005 11:42 am

the display on the far right in these pictures is a Hydis 14.1" SXGA+ (standard, non-flexview)

I was surprised to find how different the two FlexView displays were. the LG has more of a yellow tint rather than pure white, but the color reproduction is exceptional.

In the end, I decided to keep the T42p with the ID Tech FlexView 15" - text was easier to read and overall the system ran cooler and quieter than the T43.

Here are some more pictures of the Hydis and Samsung 14.1" SXGA+ panels next to the LG 15" Flexview SXGA+ panel:

Of course the display of the notebook in the middle looks best because it has zero angle to the camera. Not a fair comparison.

That's what I said at first, too. But look at the later pictures - the IDTech and LG are switched and you can still tell which one is brighter ;)

Kenn,
How do you know which one is which one? I'm about to replace cracked LCD on my T42p (2373-7XU) and woudl rather get LG. Do these displays have different FRU numbers?

Thanks!

look at the caption below the pictures. also, once you get the FRU numbers from IBM, search google and you'll see several companies selling after-market displays. just be sure you get exactly the panel you're looking for because sometimes they don't distinguish between LG and ID Tech.

IBM lists part as FRU 92P6672 (15" UXGA). Any idea which brand this could be?

Thanks again!

the only 15" flexview UXGA panel supplier is ID Tech, which also supplies 15" SXGA+ panels.

in terms of 15" flexview panels, LG only makes 15" SXGA+ displays (not UXGA).
