OK TP43p S2U arrived - WOW

#1 Post by Greg Gebhardt » Tue Sep 27, 2005 6:46 pm

I have loaded near 40gb of software and just spent the last hours or so allowing the new drivers be downloaded. There were quite a few updated drivers and it took quite a while.

First thing I have noticed is this thing is MUCH cooler than even my past T42p. I heard that later T43ps were running cooler but this is much cooler.

Next there were no problems installing any of the software, none. No problems with the new message center which directed and automatically dowmloaded and installed all of my new drivers. I do not know if it was IBM or Lenova but this update funtion is now working like it should.

Fan noise. My T43pH2U had little fan noise, my Q2U has none. Only noise I heard was the CD drive when installing the software other than that I can feel a gentle stream of warm air from the left side but no fan noise. Maybe they have got this fixed for all of you that dislike hearing any noise.

Connection with the home Cisco wireless could not be faster, faster the my H2U, the Q2U is up and ready to go in less time.

I could not be more happy as Bill Morrow has deleivered one heck of a nice machine without a single dead pixel. Thanks Bill!!!

Well, I'm happy for you guys, but I don't think IBM is gonna to recall the first T43p models and fix the fan noise though (although they should).

PS: I'm still very angry about the noise, and the thing which irritates me even more - IBM support rejects to recognize that the problem exists and they did not provide any documentation on their acpi :( 3 BIOS updates and it hasn't been fixed as of yet :(

Using figerprint reader for passwords

#4 Post by chotta » Fri Oct 07, 2005 3:34 am

Does any body out there know how to use the fingerprint reader / secure chip stuff to feed in passwords on websites over the internet like email accounts and stuff, so that you dont have to type it every time and a simple swipe can take care of all your different PWs.
