T42 model codes, whats the meaning? Need some purchase advic

I see 2378RCU, 2378RBU, Express selection, Q2U....
Basically im looking to buy a nice T42 14" minus the performance options and having better mobility/battery life. I read some conversations on model's which run hot, are loud, have bad battery life etc... How can i tell which model will be the best for me? im buying online in the 2000 CAN dollar w/tax price range.
