Eagerly waiting and a question

#1 Post by Jeremy31 » Thu Jul 01, 2004 7:36 pm

Hi,

Well my DXU is being held by the FDA in Louisville, KY.. Two day delivery should mean I'll get it tomorrow, but seeing as it still says that it's shipping to McLean, VA and I'm in Syracuse, NY, I'm doubting I'll get it until after the holiday..

When it arrives, is it safe to plug into the wall and start using, or am I supposed to fully charge it first without using it? I'm guessing the latter, but thought I'd check...

you'll probably get it, the shipping thing is weird, it said NJ for mine and i live almost in central PA

it's safe to plug it into the wall or just run it off the battery, the battery comes charged and all ready to use!

I recommend that you charge the battery... You can however use it while it's charging.
They only come with a partial charge and that 1st charge is the most important.

Last 3 I've seen in the last 3 weeks came nearly fully charged (an X40, T41 and T42p.)

Same here, mine came charged. However, the extra battery I bought didn't. It had an 8% charge.

My 2373KXU cam 98% charged. I plugged it in while entering the new software and it hit 100% within a few minutes. My last 3 ThnkPads all came with near full charged batteries.

No need to wait, plug it in and ENJOY!

Sometimes when it is at 98% the charging circuit won't kick in. I have found if you run it down to say 95%, the charging cycle starts and will bring it up to 100%.

Well then they must be doing something different with the newer systems.
I have never had a battery yet that came with a full or nearly full charge.
