T41p from ebay questions? Please help!

#1 Post by dc81 » Thu Sep 29, 2005 10:13 am

I have a couple of quick questions.

They are regarding a T41p (not saying I was going to purchase one from Ebay, but at this time just reviewing ALL of my options).

1. What does the word "Mack" mean? When they say 3 years Mack warranty.

2. Since the T41p uses the same chipset as the T42, I assume you can upgrade the processor if you decided to do so. Where is a place that you can purchase notebook processors? I have done a few google searches, with no results. Also what does, for example a 2ghz Dothan processor run?

3. Although the seller on Ebay sounds legit (Power Seller of about 5000 sales), with Paypal certification of $1000, and a 99.1% positive feedback rating. The seller does say they are reconditioned with an "S" class rating which means it is in excellent new/near new condition. It also says that these machines have 1 year on-site warranty, plus 3 years Mack warranty. Does this sound legit? The price he is asking for is $1399, +$40 S&H. Also they say that the machines are in IBM factory sealed boxes. They claim they are IBM certified resellers. The company name is "Thinkpad World". Can anybody who has experience with them please give me feedback.

To me it sounds like a good deal for the price.

1.I believe the mack warranty means it is given by the seller (ie eBay shop rather than IBM themselves).
2.Don't know.
3.It is legit, offcourse. I, myself, bought a Thinkpad from eBay.
