IBM's new security system and older T series users

#1 Post by T41mbi » Sat Oct 01, 2005 2:40 am

Hey

I have a T41p

Since the release of the T41p IBM has increased the security of the newer Tseries with integrated fingerprint reader and hard disk encryption software.

Can i purchase or download the new thinkpad security software and use it without the integrated fingerprint reader?
I am in particular interested in the full disk encryption- i think its called safeguard easy?

Thanks

you can download the Rescue & Recovery 3 (with Client Security and Utimaco Private Disk included) for free (or just Client Security 6 if you don't want to install Rescue and Recovery). It doesn't rely on special hardware like Fingerprint Reader. But full disk encryption isn't free, you have to buy Utimaco Safeguard Easy. Works fine for me and my good old T40p.

Thanks for the reply

How much is it to purchase?

And where is the download link for RR-3 which includes the encryption software?
