IBM tp power management driver...1.31 or 1.26?

#1 Post by cruzlite » Sat Oct 01, 2005 11:34 pm

In software installer [3.14.0508]...
I'm seeing 1.31 in; installed version...
[only entry in this column
1.26 in; available versions...

Any advantage to go back to 1.26?

What I thought you were looking for is the ACPI Power Management Driver. What you are really looking for is Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management features for Windows. Both of these are listed in the matrix of the following link.

Software and Device Drivers - ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p

Below you will see the list of changes made to the Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management features package.

GomJabbar,
Many thanks for your help...

I was indeed confused...
Power Management Driver v1.30 [& v1.31-apparently only available in SWInstler] provides support for Fn+F3 & F12 keys...

You are correct...
Battery Maximiser & Power Management Features package vA-1.38
is in fact the subject of my interest...

I am currently unable to save a custom scheme
I would like to be able to manually set;
CPU speed, & read temp, etc

I suspect that what you want (but can't have) is THIS. :cry:

Correct again...

I hope they come out a version that will work on t41...

the progression of updates [from 1.30 to 1.38] seems to be eliminating
options...example; 'high performance' option is gone...

@cruzlite

hold on, you're talking about two different things there. 1.30 is the latest version of the power management driver for t41, r51,...
1.38 however is the latest version of the battery maximiser software, which is completely different to the first one, i would say. this software requires the power management driver though, i think.

The evolution of the BAT MAX & pwr mgr pkg goes from v1.30 [initial release] to v1.38. see readme;
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.ws ... MIGR-44226
This is what I was referring to in my last post...

not to be confused with the ACPI pwr mgmt driver-latest version;
1.30 [or v1.31 from SW Instlr] see readme;

I'm sorry, but I am totally confused.
I am looking at this site http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-55386 for my T42 2373-CWU.

I didn't expect to see two kinds of "Power Management" listed:
one kind called an "ACPI Power Management" and the other is apparently still another (?) kind that comes bundled with the Battery MaxiMiser.

I read through these .txt files:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... u105u1.txt
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... ku06ww.txt

...but it is not any clearer to me which Power Management (or both) I am supposed to install.

Thank you inadvance!

You want both Power Management items. They do different things.

You want this installed....
IBM ThinkPad Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features package
You want all of the following installed....
The other ThinkPad machines:
- IBM ThinkPad Configuration package
- IBM ThinkPad Presentation Director (Windows 98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP or later only)
- IBM ThinkPad EasyEject Utility (Win2000/XP or later only)
and you want this installed....
ThinkPad Power Management Driver for Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP (ACPI)

The power manager driver (ACPI) 77ku06ww is a low level system driver that you need and has been around for quite a while on ThinkPads. The version referenced is 1.32 and operates on any T4x I know of.

The power management property (1xu105u1) is for the battery maximizer and I think (I do not know conclusively) that it is part of the extra power management schemes. The version referenced is 1.38 and works on T4x's that I know about up to and including T42. There is a completely different battery maximizer tool for the T43 (and IIRC it version 1.01).

You need both drivers (as others have noted) that are appropriate for your machine.
