Intermittents are the worst. Here goes...
The USB connectors on my two-year-old T40. sometimes "disconnect" and I get a "high-low" beep. After a minute or two, they may reconnect with a "low-high" beep. Regardless of device, or USB port (T40 or docking station.
Also, some PCMCIA devices will not function properly (but they all do on my T20). For example, W-Fi cards work fine, but Verizon's EV-DO wireless card will not. Finally got high enough in Verizon to do an hour to troubleshooting with a good tech. They guess power supply problems on the T40. Voltage may be fine for some cards, not others. From what I know about electronics and PCs, that makes sense to me.
IBM/Lenovo support not too helpful with intermittents. I wish they would just take it and test the power supply, but they do not want to.
Like I say, intermittents are the worst.
Can I easily measure the power supply voltages myself? I am handy with a meter, just don't know where to go.
Tips are appreciated! Thanks!
