T42 temperature

#1 Post by Cedric » Mon Oct 03, 2005 5:45 am

Hallo,

I've a T42 UC2M1GE, with 80 GB HDD (Hitachi) and 2 GB RAM.

CHC shows me, that the temperature is round about 40-43 degree while I work with it. Is this temperature 'normal'?

In some situations, when the CPU is more required, the temperature can grow to 55-60 degree, but the fan cools down the temperature immediately to 40-43 degree. 40-43 degree is like a avarage temperature during the whole day. What is your average temperature of your T42?

Regards

I think 40 degrees is the "default" temperature that the fan is trying to achieve, so it is reasonable. Do not forget that the P-M has been designed to work under much higher temps ( >80C) so 40C shouldn't be a problem.

Don't worry I think that's very very normal. It could go up to 80degrees with my T43p. And it's averagin between 50-60degrees. :) I know it's kinda shocking at first.

Thanks for your answers!

I'm not worry about the 40 degree temperature as an avarage value. It seems, that working with 2 GB RAM makes the notebook a little bit hoter than working with 1 GB (round about 1 degree).

If 40 degree is the default all is fine.

That's normal, unless your room is freezing in which case your laptop is running very hot!

If it's normal room temp, 40-44C is nothing to be concerned with.

mine idles at 50c, and full load while overclocked 9600 is 78c. I was kinda worried about this but the laptop is rock stable, and the bottom of the laptop doesnt feel like its overheating. The processor cools down to 50 after I stop gaming, so its ok
