I have installed an Intel 2915 ABG card in my T40 and I am using the generic Intel drivers. I used the no1802.com utility to install the card. I would like to be able to control the transmit on/off function with the FN-F5 key and see the LED. Can the Intel driver be manipulated to accomplish this? I have already tried the office IBM driver, but it does not work with either driver.

WIFI LED - Can it work using the Intel drivers??
You have to have and use Access Connections on your laptop. In addition, each version release of Access Connections only works with certain drivers. I tried downloading the Intel drivers a few months back, but they would not work with Access Connections. Both Access Connections and the Intel drivers have been upgraded since then, so I can't say if they would work together now or not.
I would uninstall the wireless driver you are using, and any version of Access Connections on your ThinkPad. Download the Intel wireless driver and Access Connections from IBM/Lenovo. Install the Intel wireless driver first (you need to install Intel Proset software as well - it comes as part of the driver package). Next reboot and then install Access Connections. See below for download page, and readme files for installation.

If you are using a generic Intel 2915 abg card, there is no straightforward way of achieving what you want.
Basically, you need to have the IBM OEM verion of the Intel 2915 abg card to have the wireless LED working, unless you are onto serious constant BIOS and firmware tweaking (and even then you may not succeed).
There's a whole "sticky" thread which covers this in detail at the top of the forum.
