802.11n and a T42
802.11n and a T42
I know 802.11n will not be out soon but when it does do you think they would work in the T series? Not as a PCMCIA card but replacing the built in radio card. I already replaced the Intel 2200 with the IBM a/b/g card and that was easy and kinda fun. So i was hoping that when 802.11n shows up we'll have a choice of poping one of those in.
Hi, I don't think anyone can answer with any level of certainty... The IEEE 802.11n standard is (and has been) split with disagreement, and it won't be out for a while (earliest pojections being next year according to some news). And that's the "standard" itself. It usually takes a while after that to hit the mass market.
Sure if Intel/Broadcom/Atheros/etc could come up with a 11n chipset and board simialr to a/b/g set, then there will probably be a compatible set. But given the datarate of 11n and multi-antenna setup, it's also likely that changes are coming.
