Hi all,
I have a T42p and have had problems with heat issues in the past. What I have recently noticed is that the fan doesn't seem to be going into 'high speed / maximal cooling' mode that it used to. As a result, my notebook is warming its way up to 87 degrees celcius until it goes into passive cooling mode and drops back down to 600MHz for safety.
My question is - is there any way that I can control the fan, either to make it 'spin faster' at a lower threshold, or manually increase the speed. Obviously I am looking for a software solution.
Looking forward to your help.
T42p fan - not doing its job - can I control it?

i was looking for something like this for a while, but there isn't any windows software to manually control the fan (like i8fangui for dells). I think you can do it under linux though, I found a program once but didnt actually try it out in case i buggered my laptop.ozman wrote:Is there any sort of fan control software for the T42 series? My fan does not seem to spin up like it used to, and I dont mind a bit of extra noise just to keep my laptop cool. I would like be able to have the option of running it all the time if need be.
Thanks again.
