T43 + Mini Dock: Audio Problems

Hi,

I recently bought a mini dock for my T43. I have the same problems with external speakers that others have posted about (doesn't turn off the internal speakers and cannot adjust volume through the laptop). See http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... =dock+line

However, the more important reason I am writing is that the line-in on the mini dock doesn't work at all. When I plug a microphone into the mini dock jack, the recording comes from the internal microphone (I have no such problem when I plug in the microphone into the laptop's line-in jack).

I called IBM tech support 5 times and they were useless. They gave me a bunch of different answers (such as update BIOS) that did nothing. They sent me a new mini dock with the exact same result. They even told me to send in my T43 for depot repair - yeah right, I know better than to do that.

I was wondering if anyone here also had line-in problems with their T43 mini dock and if you found a solution? Thanks!

I have a similar problem with my T41 connected to a Port Replicator ll (part 74P6733 ).
I can get the external speakers working via the dock and I have a blank jack inserted into the speaker out on the t41 ( to kill the t41 internal speakers). However I cant get a mic to work via the line-in on the dock. The same mic works fine if its connected to the t41 line-in. I have also tried putting a blank jackplug into the t41 line-in but tha dont work either. Only thing that seems to work is if I change the hardware profile and use the internal mic on the usb webcam that I have.

Can anyone with a mini dock verify that their mini dock's line-in works with their T-series? It would be good to know whether this problem is commonplace or an exception.

I would say that these 2 "holes" on the docking is the line in/line out port, thus try test that by connecting a audio source to the line in, then bring up the sound control pannel, & do some recording while playing around on the level sound control level.

i just bought Port Replicator II from eBay and i realised abt the audio jack problem. actually, i like this cos i would listen to music thru my speakers thru the replicator's audio jack while keeping the laptop's speakers muted.

and at night, when my roommate is sleeping, i would plug my earphones to the laptops audio jack and listen to music...

and i just bought a Mini Dock from eBay.... hehe... gonna keep the Port Replicator II in UK and bring the Mini Dock back to Singapore... haha
