I just ordered a T41p from an online vendor(admin edit). I am so excited. I am soon to be a proud owner of my very first Thinkpad. A T41P!

T61p, Core 2 Duo T9500 2.6Ghz, 2Gb RAM, 200Gb 7200RPM HDD, 9cell Battery, Dell 2005FPW
I have had many threads here asking about many different Thinkpads and configurations, the purpose of this thread was to tell all those that helped me that I have finally made a decision. Also once I receive my T41p, this thread will be used for the T41p review.tpforever wrote:congrats! the t41p is a great machine, very well engineered and very powerful. battery time and tft are great, too. you'll love this one!

Man, give the guy a break! I think he wanted to say all is over with the PayPal thing and moved on to a more reasonable sounding transaction. Good luck dc, I know you are antsy, heck, I drove 20 miles out of my way to our shop today just to pick up a little bag of 6 new track point buttons, jumped in the car and while waiting at stop lights was trying to see how the big round one would look on my t30! Kids in candy stores.
(:
Mike, thanks for the backup.
It has been a long couple months. I think I started my Thinkpad research in September. It took me 2 months to find a Thinkpad that I felt happy with, (pricewise). You could be happy with any Thinkpad, it is just a matter of how much you want to spend.

I agree with you. Price is one of the most important factors to me followed very closely by battery life.
Congrat on your purchase. I'm sure that you will love your new 'pad.
I love my T23. This is the 5th latptop I have owned. It's equal in build quality and features to my Powerbook G3 500. Dual batteries, good screen fast processor. Everything I need.
The T41 you got is an excellent machine and should serve you well.

ITS HEEEERE!
Spent most of the day updating drivers, being a T41p some of the drivers were a bit dated. Haven't really had any time to "play" on it yet, but I will come this weekend. So far I am pretty impressed. My previous laptop was a Compaq with a P3 1ghz 512mb ram. Although I have had no complaint about the compaq, the IBM is far superior.
Quick question though, when I boot up my computer and it is done starting up it always gives me the message no wireless connection available. Is there a way to disable this? I am not part of a wireless network.
One more question: being that this was a refurb (excellent condition) is there a way to tell how old or "used" the battery is?
More comments as soon as I have time to play with the computer.

If you have the green battery maximizer gauge on the taskbar, single left click on that, select battery information from the dialog box that appears, and look at the information under the tabs labeled "status detail" and "information." Among other things you will get the date the battery was first used and the cycle count (the number of times the battery has been discharged and charged).dc81 wrote: One more question: being that this was a refurb (excellent condition) is there a way to tell how old or "used" the battery is?

I used my computer for a couple of weeks and I am really pleased with the performance. I run AutoCAD on this machine and it is great. Structurally I have one complaint, it seems that the Navigation Pad has a lot of flex in it, actually, the whole center area of the palm rest seems to have a lot of flex. Although this doesn't really bother me a lot, I thought that it would be better than it was. Other than that one complaint it is a beautiful machine. This machine is beyond quiet. My old compaq notebook that I have seems to be a lot louder than this T41p. I love this machine and would recommend it to anyone.
On an unrelated subject, in say 3 years when I might be ready for a new machine, I wonder what type of notebooks Lenovo would be making. I certainly hope they stay with the IBM tradition of a really kick [censored] computer. On second thought I probably will do what I did with this computer. In about three years I will probably just end up buying a T43p.

Just remove the palmrest (remove keyword first!) and the minipci card below, then fold a small piece of paper a few times and stick it between the minipci card and the chip above the minipci-slot (so that its between the chip and the card). Then put everything together again and enjoy a rock solid touchpad area!
