A few days with my 2373KXU

#1 Post by Greg Gebhardt » Sat Jul 03, 2004 2:33 pm

This is one very nice machine. Entered all my software including AutoCad and PhotoShopCS with out any problem. No dead pixels and mine was assembled without a flaw.

Like best, VERY nice screen and large keyboard. Aftrer hours of use in my lap, this T42p is only slightly warm to the touch. Connected with the home Cisco Aironet 1200 right off the bat with no hesitation.

Thanks Bill Morrow, could not be more happy and look forward to using this unit for a few years! <vbg> Unless something better comes out from IBM!

Congratulations :)

That's one hell of a machine. I just looked up the specs and the KXU looks like it's the big kahuna of the T42p models.

Greg, I agree with your assessment. Mine, with only the minor flaw I described in an earlier post, is a pure joy to own. Everything is working as designed, at least for me. :D
T41p-GEU / T42p-KXU bought from Bill/ T60p-8HU / 4 T400p's and now a T440p

I hope you et that one minor flaw taken care of. It would bother me and if it does bother you, let IBM take care of it.

I am really liking, no regrets here. Some may opt for the 14" model but I don't do alot of lugging around so I wanted the biggest screen and keyboard I could get.

Do you use your wireless? My only complaint could be the time it takes from a cold boot for the wireless feature to connect. My laptops boots very fast but it seems to take an additional minute or two for the wireless to shake hands with my access point after all hard drive activity stops. My T40 and R50 was a little faster.

Good news is I can close the cover to force into "standby" and after hours of not using my ThinkPad, I can open up the screen and the T42p wakes up fully funtional in about 10 seconds, wireless included! This is a BIG plus for me as I use my laptop around the house on and off all day long on the weekends.

I think it is the "big kahuna" and I am really enjoying it.

Greg, my wireless connection acts the same way. Using a Linksys WRT54G. Coming out of standby is fast as well and that is the way I use it anyway.

I can't complain, the suspend funtion works so well that it is not a problem to me. I left mine in suspend last night and it had no problems waking up. In fact I won't shut is down till Monday night.

I am glad you are enjoying. If this machine does not make a person happy, nothing will.

A friend came over who owns a Tosh and he about pooped in his pants when he say how good the screen was compared to his Tosh. Yep I am happy.

THANKS BILL and "BarleyPop" for the feather donation! :P

As does my T40 with the same LinkSys, although not to the same extent.

I can't say that it takes more than 15 or 20 seconds to establish a link when I first turn the unit on, but I so rarely turn it off that I could be wrong.

Once the link is established, the connection is almost instantaneous when waking from standby.
