How to change (upgrade) internal, mini-PCI B only ...

#1 Post by patfla » Tue Oct 11, 2005 12:13 am

wireless in T42 (the subject line doesn't seem to accomodate more than a certain number of letters).

I can find instructions on IBM's Web site for changing the mini-PCI wireless on a 14.1" T42.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-55341

But this says very explicityly that this these instructions are not to be used for a T42/p with a 15" screen.

Which is what I have ...

How is the T42/p with a 15" screen chassis different, and does anyone know of instructions that would apply to my machine?

thanx.

The reason you are not finding any instructions for the 15" model is that for the 15" model, the communication card is not considered a consumer replaceable item (it is in the 14.1" version though). The best help I think you will get is from the Hardware Maintenance Manual (July 2005) - ThinkPad T40/p, T41/p, T42/p.

Remove all of the keyboard and frame screws located on the bottom of the machine. The card is located under the trackpad on the palmrest and requires about a dozen screws to remove.
