T42p - Burning Heat
T42p - Burning Heat
My machine is T-42p Dothan 1.8, 1 GB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL T2, XP PRO SP2,
and whenever I play the game GTA San Andreas the computer really really heats up and it even burned my brother's leg, we had to apply creams and such!
is that normal?

I just noticed, when I'm running connected to my mindock, NHC says the CPU temp is 85°C. This strikes me as really hot. Anyone know what might be causing this? The fan is on, but slow.
When I'm running off the battery it's always 60 or below.

It all depends upon your Power Options settings. Your CPU can be set to Maximum, Adaptive, or Slow. Usually people set the CPU to Maximum when on AC power, and Adaptive or Slow while on battery. As the name suggests, Adaptive adapts the CPU speed according to the requirements of the software you are running. If you use IBM's Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features, you can view these settings by clicking on the battery icon in the Tasktray and choosing View Scheme Settings. Below is another reference for users that only rely on Windows Power Schemes (you can ignore the part about AMD processors).
